About

A research center inside the Clark School

Hosted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland. Founded in 1998 to advance Energetic Materials Science and the engineering disciplines that surround it.

What the Center does.

The Center coordinates research, education, and partnership programs across the energetic-materials enterprise and the engineering disciplines that intersect with it. Federal sponsors bring problems, faculty bring expertise, and the Center knits teams across departments and institutions to do the science.

Work spans the full lifecycle of Energetic Materials, from first-principles Chemistry to deployable systems. Investigators publish in peer-reviewed venues, train graduate students in active sponsored projects, and translate findings into capability the nation can rely on.
