Workforce
CECD is a small research center, and its contribution to the energetics workforce has taken three forms: graduate degree programs that grew out of the center, custom short courses for partner workforces, and the training and knowledge transfer that come with active research.
Formal degree programs and short courses for the workforce were delivered in earlier years. Research training continues as part of the center's work today.
Graduate education
Degree programs that grew out of CECD
An online Professional Master of Engineering and a Graduate Certificate in Energetic Concepts grew out of the center, delivered through the Clark School's online graduate engineering programs. Both drew on the same six-course curriculum.
Short courses
Custom courses for partner workforces
In the early years the center delivered more than $800K in energetic concepts short courses, free of charge, for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head workforce at College Park and the College of Southern Maryland.
Research training
Training and knowledge transfer through research
As an active research group, the center carries energetics expertise into the field through graduate research and published work, spanning energetic materials, shock mechanics, combustion, and propulsion.
